Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How long will the restoration process take?

There are varying factors involved in fire, water and mold damage restoration. Occasionally, it is difficult to predict exactly how long the complete restoration process of your home or business will take. Our technicians will give you estimates on dates and stages of the restoration project and keep you posted on progress.

Can I clean it myself?

For best results, we do not recommend any self-cleaning without first consulting your technician. It is important to pre-test, use the right cleaning agent for the particular item, mix deodorizing agents with cleaning solutions, and use correct dilution rates to achieve best results. Our trained technicians use our professional cleaning system products to give you the best chance for complete restoration of your belongings.

What are some safety concerns?

Safety is our top priority. We quickly identify and address all safety hazards during our initial inspection, including debris removal, air quality, electrical hazards, slip and trip hazards, etc. Any burnt electrical cords and appliances are separated out for disposal, and questionable electrical appliances are unplugged and tagged for evaluation or safe operation. Electrical power may be turned off until evaluation by a licensed electrician.

Can I turn on my heating and air conditioning unit?

It is best to not turn on your furnace or air conditioning unit without clearance from the HVAC contractor.

How do I keep track of non-restorable items?

We recommend that you make a list of items (including food items) that are determined to be non-restorable. It is best to have a copy for yourself as well as your insurance company.

Do I need to move out of my property during this process?

This is ultimately your decision. You should consider all safety issues, odors, electricity, noise from equipment, etc. If you are vacating your premises for any length of time, consider the following: forward your mail to your temporary residence; stop newspaper and other deliveries; notify utility company, cable company, etc. of temporary suspension of services.

Do my belongings need to be moved away from the premises?

That depends on the source, nature and extent of the fire. Our technicians will work with you and your insurance claim representative to manage this process.

Will I have access to my belongings while they are in storage?

Yes. Our technicians can schedule a time to access your requested items, even while they are in storage.

What about special items? Artwork, china, heirlooms, etc.?

Restoration by a specialist is recommended for high value items. We will work with your insurance claim representative and help you identify those and locate a qualified restorer.
